Sworn translations and apostilles
As a sworn translator, I am authorised to produce sworn translations. Thanks to my qualifications and work experience, I was able to swear an oath before court in order to be included in the Belgian Register for Court Experts and Sworn Translators, Interpreters, and Translator-Interpreters held by the Federal Public Service for Justice.
This means I have a VTI number, which is an official identification number for sworn translators and interpreters.
As a sworn translator, it is both my duty and my pleasure to keep my knowledge up to date. That is why I regularly attend training, for example the lifelong learning programme for sworn translators run by the University of Ghent (UGent).
On the translation itself, I include a mention that the translation is a true and fair representation of the original document. Underneath the sworn translation, I place my digital signature.

A sworn translation of the document endorsed by my digital signature is sufficient.
Using a Belgian document abroad
An apostille or a legalization, depending on the country concerned, is issued by the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the sworn translation. I can request this apostille or legalization on your behalf on the eLegalization platform of the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
This legalization process allows you to use the sworn translation of your Belgian document abroad. An apostille is a type of legalization added to the translation by Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
